DOUBLE YOUR FUN AT TWO SANDALS RESORTS IN BARBADOS!
While I have stayed at the original Sandals Barbados twice, in July I took my first trip to the fairly new build, Sandals Royal Barbados. Sandals Royal Barbados, featuring Club Level and Butler Suites is elevated to new heights with award-winning Skypool Suites, Swim-up Suites, and Millionaire Suites, is located directly next door to the original Sandals Barbados.
STAY:
Sandals Royal Barbados – Largest Glass-fronted Infinity Pool in the Eastern Caribbean. Featuring a new 4-lane bowling alley and craft beer bar. The donut and coffee shop, Sweet n’ Salty’s, is a first at Sandals Resorts. 9 dining options with the first health and wellness inspired restaurant concepts – Heart & Sol and Green House. First roof-top restaurant – La Parisienne. First roof top pool and whirlpool overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the Sky Bar. Sandals long-time favorite restaurants, Butch’s Steak & Seafood House, Neptune’s and the Jerk Shack reside. “Stay at One, Play at Two” exchange privileges between the adjacent resorts.
Sandals Barbados – 11 dining options, including Butch’s Chophouse (Stop to say “hello” to George who mixes the best Cosmopolitans and Martinis!) and the very unique Bombay Club with gourmet Indian Cuisine. Café de Paris serving pastries, French crepes and specialty coffees and The Merry Monkey, a British Pub are longtime favorites. Planning a late dinner? Stop by Soy for cocktails and Sushi before. A Departure Lounge with showers and changing facilities at both resorts for late flight departures from Barbados.
TO DO – HISTORY, ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS:
Barbados is considered the Birthplace of Rum so a visit to Mount Gay Distilleries, home to the world’s oldest rum, is a must.
Barbados is a historic island, it’s early economy exporting valuable sugar to European countries. A historic sugar plantation, St Nicholas Abbey built in 1660, provides a step-back in time.
An interesting historic connection to the U.S., our first president, George Washington traveled with his brother, Lawrence, in 1751 to Barbados.
A tour to Harrison’s Cave, with its stunning formations of stalagmites and stalactites, located in the center of Barbados is the only drive-in cave in the Caribbean.
Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry for fried or grilled fresh fish, music and local crafts.
Surfing the South Coast. The Surf in Barbados is usually good from November to June.
