ONE DESTINATION, 32 ISLANDS AND CAYS https://discoversvg.com/
From St Vincent’s lush tropical rainforest full of eco-adventures, to the volcanic black sand beaches of St Vincent and the white sugar-fine beaches, coral reefs and turquoise lagoons of the Grenadines, St Vincent & the Grenadines is a tropical paradise for sailing, scuba diving, enjoying nature and relaxation.
St Vincent, where the airport is located, is 142 square miles with a population of 101,323. St Vincent is located north with Grenada to the south, with the Grenadines in between which provides easy access for split stay island adventures. The Grenadines consist of Bequia, Canouan, Mustique, Mayreau, Petit St Vincent, Palm Island, Tobago Cays, Union Island and Young Island – many accessible by ferry, short flights or water taxis. While I have stayed on Bequia, the largest island, I have yet to explore the smaller islands. Because of the way the islands are grouped, the Grenadines are one of the most sought-after sailing destinations in the world – both charter and bare-boat.
Stay:
SANDALS ST VINCENT & THE GRENADINES, the newest addition to the Sandals family of all-inclusive, adults-only resorts, is a 50-acre resort located on its own private cove bordered by lush tropical forest and a gently flowing river. A pleasant surprise for me – my very first Sandals Dunns River Butler many years ago, Tamon Allen, is now the General Manager at Sandals St Vincent.
Notes:
~301 rooms and suites – 50 minute included van transfer between the airport and resort.
~11 dining options, 3 of which are exclusive to Sandals St Vincent – Farm-to-Table, Family-Style dining at Buccan is not to be missed!
~Water taxi service between the airport and the resort provided for all Butler Suite categories. 20 minutes to the Marina by van, then 20 minutes to the resort by yacht.
~Lady Palm Club Suites with separate Media and Fitness Rooms.
~Sandals first one of a kind Two Story Overwater Villas. Two Bedroom Beachfront Butler Villas are ideal for 2 couples or 4 friends traveling together!
~Room Service included in all room and suite categories.
~Overwater Wedding Chapel.
~Wi-Fi available throughout the resort.
~4 freshwater pools and 2 whirlpools.
~All Cabanas are complimentary.
~In addition to regular activities and entertainment – Bat Cave Kayaking & Paddleboarding Tour, Movie Night in the Plaza, Waterskiing, Windsurfing and Sailing lessons.
~NEW – Pickleball Courts.
~Massage outdoors by the river an additional $30 to upgrade.
~May & June are the “dry” months. The remainder of the year, refreshing rain can occur daily but moves in and out quickly. (I stayed under my Cabana for the brief duration!)
~No bathroom power outlets in the Lady Palm and Bamboo Palm buildings – I usually pack a small power bar to plug into the main room US outlet. Or take a Power Adapter.
